BONK!!!
Well I bonked!!! ...but I finished. So at least I got that goal. I'm still trying to figure out what I did wrong or if it was just a bad day, but I had a really hard time running. 9 extra minutes long which is terrible. We were almost close to our second goal of 1 hour and 30 minutes. I did 1:34 and Melanie did 1:32 so she won. I look forward to doing this again and I need to lose some more weight and get a lot stronger in my legs so this is easier next time. I am sure I can knock 10 minutes off my time next time.

Day before the race
Well, all is good and I think we are both ready to do our first Triathlon. So I wanted to talk about our goals.
1. Both of our goal is to finish the race.
2. We want to beat each other.
3. We would both like to do it in 1 hour and 30 minutes.
We will see how it goes. Race day in the morning. Holler if your there and you see us.

IT"S OFFICIAL
We are signed up for the September 7th Triathlon in Bountiful. It is getting close and I don't think I am quite there so hopefully the next few trainings go good and I can survive it. I have to think about what my goals are going to be and then I will post them soon.

Shin Splints no more!
Well, hopefully they are gone. It was looking like every run was getting worse and worse. So I decided to stop into a running store and see what I could do. The lady had me try on some SuperFeet $45 (ahhhh) and run. It looked like I was still over pronating. So we got the right Superfeet insoles and the overpronating was over.
I also used KT Tape last night so a mixture of the two made the shins better. They still got a little tired but I woke up with no pain or tiredness this morning.

1 month to go.
We have changed the place but not the date. We are going to do the Sandy City Tri on September 12th, because it is a little closer and its in a pool. Looking forward to getting this over, as long as I can keep my shins under control for one more month.

Shin Splints

While working on my speed and endurance running this week, I think I got running to fast and lost my form and gave my shins a good over workout. Then on my long run I stretched good and did a good warm up and they lasted until the last 10 minutes and then they were pretty tired. So I iced and heated and iced and stretch and today they fill ok but I am still afraid that I am going to get them.
I can't really back off because the race is in 4 weeks and I am still not ready. So I guess I am going to have to do a little more endurance exercises within swimming and biking and back off a tiny bit in running and make sure my technique stays strong and my calves stay loose.
